3 Common Reasons Why Women Feel Guilty When They Are Pregnant

Pregnant moms are well meaning and want to do everything they can to ensure a safe pregnancy and a healthy baby. If there is one thing that connects all pregnant moms is the fact that they are feeling guilty because of some things that they feel they are unable to do right.

Here are a few more reasons why women feel guilty

Sex – A problem factor

Some women feel guilty because they are having sex during pregnancy and there are others who feel guilty because they are not indulging in sexual activity. It definitely is a double edged sword, as women believe that having sex when they are pregnant is going to harm their baby.

This is an erroneous belief and its best that they clear their doubts with their doctor. Also, those women who have made it a point not to have sex feel guilty about not doing it. In such cases, it will be a good idea to give it a try if you are in the mood and not just avoid it because you think it will hurt the baby.

Not giving attention

This is a reason that usually manifests itself if the woman is expecting her second child or for that matter even third. This happens because she thinks that the new baby is shifting attention from their other child or children.

This leads to the mother to develop a guilt complex about not giving enough attention to the new baby. In such cases, it’s always advisable to take some pregnancy counseling sessions, if this situation is affecting you in a big way.

Other relationships

Getting irritable or frustrated or having various other mood swings are a part and parcel of being pregnant. This many women, feels, affects their relationship with their partners. This can lead to a guilt trip. They worry that the pregnancy is taking a heavy toll on the relationship.

But what they don’t realize is that their partners are well aware of the challenges a woman is facing during her pregnancy. They are not worried about her irritability or mood swings. The reasons just keep coming when it comes to feeling guilty in pregnancy. They are a natural consequence of the pressures faced during pregnancy.
