7 Tips For A Healthy Baby
Healthy diet is the first principle of pregnancy. You are the nutritional source of your baby. What you eat is what your baby gets. In the first trimester, you have to take an extra 300 calories for your baby.
As your pregnancy gets into the third trimester, you need to eat an extra 500 calories per day. For a nutritious pregnancy, you need protein, calcium, vitamin and iron rich food. Whether you like it or not, say no to empty calories and junk foods.
In the advanced stages of pregnancy, switch over to five or six meals a day. As your baby starts growing, you won’t be able to take huge amount of food at a time. Make sure that you are properly gaining weight. If not, then better consult a doctor.
You need to be in love with water during pregnancy. Drink plenty of fluids. Fluids plays an important role in building body cells and supplying nutrients. Lack of fluids may dehydrate your body, which is definitely not good for your baby. Drink at least eight to ten glasses of water everyday. Make sure that the water is safe and clean.
No To Alcohol And Smoke
Bidding good-bye to all bad habits is one way to make sure that you have a healthy baby. Stay away from alcohol during pregnancy. Some experts say that a little amount of alcohol doesn’t create any trouble for the baby.
Since we don’t know the safe level of consumption, it’s best to avoid alcohol. Alcohol content from the mother reaches the baby through the blood and it may harm baby’s growth.Same way, play it safe by quitting smoking. Don’t get exposed to second-hand smoke too.
Consumption of coffee and other caffeinated beverages should be avoided. Too much intake of caffeine may lead to low-birth-weight baby.
For a healthy baby, mental health of mother is always an important factor. You need to have a stress free pregnancy period. Get enough sleep. Read books that give you peace of mind and happiness.
This is not the time for crime thrillers. If you love music, listen to soft and soothing music. It will have a positive effect on your baby. In short, do everything possible to kill the stress.
Exercise is one way to manage your physical and mental strain. It is always a medicine to boost your energy level. Moreover it will prepare your body for child-birth. You should not over exert.
Start with walking, the simplest form of exercise. Prenatal yoga class is a good choice. Before you start doing your exercise, it’s always safe to check with your doctor.
