First trimester bleeding can be caused due to many reasons.

If you have very heavy bleeding accompanied with cramps and severe pain in the abdominal area, then immediately seek the help of your physician.This kind of bleeding may be caused due to a miscarriage.If you are having a miscarriage then along with blood, you will also pass fetal tissue.
More than 20 percent of women who experience bleeding during the first trimester will go on and give birth to healthy babies
If you experience bleeding or spotting in the first trimester of your pregnancy,then do consult your physician so that he will be able to diagnose the exact cause of bleeding.The doctor will conduct ultrasound scans and various blood tests to ensure that you are having a healthy pregnancy.
To be on the safer side,you should follow your doctor’s instructions very carefully.You can wear a panty liner to monitor the amount of bleeding. Abstain from having sex and do not douche or wear tampons or do anything that will irritate your cervix.
Take proper bed rest .AlsoAvoid lifting heavy objects and do not stand continuously for long periods of time.
