Calculate Your Most Fertile Period

Knowing to read your body signs may prove to be beneficial for you in the long run. This is especially true of women who have been trying to get pregnant without success. However, medical examination often reveals that nothing is wrong with the couple and they only need to learn about the fertile period in order to achieve their objective.

But is it possible to really predict when you are likely to get pregnant? It definitely is. You only have to analyze your menstrual cycle properly in order to know the period of fertility.

It is a well known fact that an ovum or egg is released by the ovary every month. This is known as ovulation and occurs around the 14th day of the menstrual cycle.

However, the day is not fixed for all women and may vary from cycle to cycle in a woman too. The ideal way to calculate the fertile period, then, is to consider the period between the 12th and the 16th days as the time suitable for getting pregnant.

But for couples who are aware of their biological clock ticking away, estimating an average period may not be acceptable. They would like to ascertain the period with much more accuracy in order to hasten things.  There are quite a few methods for checking the proper time.

Let us now see what they are.

Ovulation Calendar– Keeping a count of the days by considering the first day of menstruation as day 1 is important here. Conception is most likely to take place on the 12th-16th days as the ovum stays active for about 24 hours whereas a sperm has a lifespan of 72 hours.

Basal Temperature– Recording your body temperature every day of the month may give you certain indications of your most fertile period. The temperature is seen to increase by 0.5 to 1.5 degrees during  ovulation in a woman who is in the reproductive phase of her life.

Mucous– Checking the cervical mucus is yet another method for checking out the fertile period. Ovulation periods are characterized by a clear, mucous which appears to be somewhat like an egg white.
