Caring For Your Sick Child

Caring for a sick child can be a heart wrenching experience for the parents. No parent would like to see their child feeling unwell and uneasy.  Sick children demand more attention and often become irritable.
Here are some tips to help you in caring for your sick child and nursing her through the illness.
The foremost issue to be addressed while caring for a sick child is to diagnose the concern of the child. A kid might not be able to effectively communicate her problem to you. Thus the onus of finding the real problem troubling your kid lies on you.

Ask your child questions like “where does it hurt”, etc to find the source of the complaint and address it accordingly. Once you have got an idea of the complaint of your child, make your child comfortable by making her lie on the bed. Give her favorite toy to keep by her side, cover her with her blanket, give her a comfortable pillow, etc.

Use a thermometer to find the temperature. Once you have a correct reading of the temperature, you can ascertain how sick your child is. If your child is running fever, feed him fluids and nutritious diet. The fluids will help to lower the temperature of the body and at the same time flush away the toxins. Make the drinks look appetizing by adding ingredients that are safe and tasty. However if the temperature keeps rising, consult a pediatrician as soon as possible.

Now that the problem has been diagnosed and the treatment has been prescribed, you have to ensure that you take care of your child while she recuperates. Keep your child engaged in some activity which is not too strenuous like watching television, playing with a toy, etc. Make your child relax and ensure that she takes ample rest.

Taking off their mind from the illness will help them to deal with the illness and recover quickly. Make your child sleep in your room so that you can attend to her in case she feels sick at night. Your presence and attention are much more important than medicines to heal your child from the sickness.
