Food poisoning is also something you would be likely to experience, so always ensure that your meat is well cooked. You should consume Deli meats which are common in beef, chicken and turkey preparations, as well as hot dogs only after re-heating. The bacteria contained in these meats could cause miscarriage or the death of your fetus inside the womb.
Eggs which are undercooked should be excluded from your pregnancy diet as they are likely to contain a particular bacteria which is called Salmonella. Salmonella causes diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever. If you have fever during your pregnancy, the infection could be passed onto your fetus posing a serious threat to its life.
Diarrhea could cause dehydration which in turn would reduce the nutrients in your body that are needed for the baby. Unpasteurised foods like milk, Camembert and Blue Cheese are not at all healthy and should not be consumed by you. You should also avoid certain kinds of fish, particularly shell fish as these have mercury which is very dangerous for your health.
Caffeine, alcohol and artificial sweeteners are other things to avoid during your pregnancy. Caffeine can lead to a miscarriage, alcohol can harm the development of your fetus and artificial sweeteners can aggravate your blood sugar and thus increase chances for diabetes.
Thus it is important for you to have a sufficient idea about the kind of food you consume when you are pregnant. Knowing what food to avoid will help you to allow your child to develop and grow normally.
