Endometriosis And Pregnancy

Endometriosis is a condition in which there is an abnormal growth of cells outside the uterine cavity. These cells resemble the endometrial cells which are seen inside the uterus. These tissues which grow outside the uterus are known as endometriosis implants.

The buildup of the tissue outside the uterus can cause ovarian cysts, blocked fallopian tubes and adhesion in the abdominal cavity. If tissue growth occurs on the ovary, then it may sometimes lead to the rupture of the ovaries.

The endometriosis implants can also spread into other organs like vagina, cervix and bladder. If so,then there is a chance of internal bleeding to occur. Sometimes the condition can even get fatal.

Women who usually have the condition of endometriosis suffer from long and heavy periods, chronic pelvic pain and pain during sexual intercourse. You will also be having a bout of recurring vaginal yeast infections.

The exact reason behind the occurrence of endometriosis is still very unclear. There is no medicine or treatment which can completely prevent the occurrence of endometriosis.

Endometriosis is an extremely uncomfortable condition. If you are diagnosed with endometriosis, then it will be wise not to delay your pregnancy, as with the passage of time fertility decreases and the chance of complications increases.

If the condition of endometriosis is very mild then you can possibly get pregnant. But a pregnant woman suffering from endometriosis is highly prone to have miscarriage.

Severe endometriosis can cause fertility problems. But with proper treatment, your chances of getting pregnant can be increased.

Laparoscopy is the technique by which the condition of endometriosis is usually confirmed. If you have endometriosis, then there will be a very high secretion of prostaglandins which may interfere with your pregnancy. If so you can resort to hormonal treatments.

Some women will experience ovulation problems due to endometriosis. In this case, infertility drugs are used to induce ovulation. The drugs can be administered orally or by injection.Sometimes fertility treatment is done by intrauterine insemination along with administering drugs.

But the most effective treatment of endometriosis is the removal of the endometriosis implants by surgical procedures. But the effects of the surgery are not permanent and long lasting, as the tissue might start to regrow after 36 weeks. So doctors usually advice women to get pregnant within this period of time so as to avoid complications.

Thus by timely diagnosis and proper treatment, you will be able to tackle the issue of infertility due to endometriosis.
