Hair Removal Precaution during Pregnancy

Women are very concerned about unwanted hair growth on their body. They try various methods to get rid of unwanted hair. Generally if you are removing hair on any normal day there is no problem but if you are planning to remove your hair during pregnancy there can be serious problems. Since laser and IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) are the newest technologies used for removing unwanted hair permanently, women opt for them. But if you want to get rid of hair during pregnancy through IPL, never do that.

IPL process is suitable for everyone except breastfeeding or pregnant women. Here are some reasons why it is so.

During pregnancy, women bodies experience many hormonal changes. Their skin becomes very sensitive and it has been found that their level of progesterone hormone increases. This is the major reason why pregnant women observe thick and dark hair around their abdominal area. Women, who never had hair in that area may get scared and shocked to notice hair grown in abdominal zone during pregnancy. That’s why, not only IPL, any method of hair removal should not be applied on pregnant women.

The main reason is that new chemicals develop in pregnant women. Therefore, their bodies do not accept anything that is unnatural. Since IPL is not a natural method, pregnant women’s bodies reject it. It is not that only IPL is not suitable for pregnant women, even other laser technique for hair removal or waxing is not fit for them. Many women had major allergic reaction when they used waxing as their hair removal method.

IPL hair removal is not suggested for pregnant women because there may be many other side effects which are not clearly known till now. If you are a pregnant women you should strictly avoid going any clinic or to any professional for hair removal through IPL or any other process. Even clinics should not allow pregnant women to undergo IPL hair removal process. They should tell you its adverse effect on your body.

Even after giving birth to the child, you can’t go for IPL as long as you breastfeed your child because there may arise many complications during breastfeeding if you undergo IPL treatment. The moment you stop breastfeeding, you can go for hair removal. Because now its time to take care of yourself.
