How and When To Stop Breastfeeding

Planning to stop the breast feeding the child? Well then you must plan out when and how to do it? If you are bounded by a job and can’t help but quit breast feeding child then it is totally unavoidable. Other some unavoidable conditions are reasons that can make you stop breast feeding your child.

It is recommended that you should breast feed your child at least for an year after the baby is born. In initial stages of breast feed, some special and good health nutrients for baby are present in breast milk so if you have breast feeded your new born baby for a while then it is quite enough.

The only sign to know its time to stop other than unavoidable work commitments is to know from within. It’s a mutual decision of baby and mother. If baby wants to stop, he would let you know eventually and if you wish to quit, you would have to make efforts.

If a child stops drinking milk and just sticks mouth for the sake of it, then its time. So methods to stop breast feeding could be many. You can take help of breast pump if your baby can’t help but requires breast feeding only.

You can also try to breast feed your child and start using bottle once in a day. This would help the child build habit of having milk with bottle. Then you can eventually increase the number of times you bottle feed the child and you can totally rely on it once your baby grows a habit of it.

Do not rush thing as breast feeding is a strong emotional attachment between the mum and child. If your child is a bit old say 2 to 3 years and can understand what you say then you must talk it out.
Tell him or her that it is enough and now develop the habit of being bottle fed. Be gentle while saying it and then do it. this may take a while but it would surely be done. This is how you can stop the breast feeding easily.
