How to Treat Pregnancy Headaches

Headaches are very common problem among pregnant women during their first or third trimester and it is quite possible to treat pregnancy headaches. Your body may require more amount of rest, sleep and nutrients during pregnancy.

When you do not get these then you may suffer from headaches.Hormonal changes, dehydration, stress etc. also contribute in headaches during pregnancy.There is nothing much to worry about headaches during pregnancy but it does cause immense amount of irritation and frustration to “mommies to be” which is not good for the baby also.

So it is very important to treat pregnancy headaches and stay happy. All you have to do is make few changes in your lifestyle to treat pregnancy headaches.

To begin with it is very important to get ample amount of sleep during pregnancy to treat pregnancy headaches.Get at least 7-8 hours of sleep and you can even take a small afternoon nap if you wish.The motive is to get good amount of rest.

Make it a habit to meditate every day for at least about 20-30 minutes.This will calm you down and help keep headaches at bay. Also make sure that you exercise daily for at least half an hour.Indulge in any activity like brisk walks, light swim etc.

Exercising releases endorphins in the blood stream which is a natural pain reliever. So working out will treat pregnancy headaches as well as it will keep you fit.

Drink plenty of water as dehydration is also a a known factor in causing pregnancy headaches.Also eat a well balances diet rich in fresh fruits, vegetables etc.Munch on few nuts or biscuits when you feel hungry.

Pregnancy headaches are also a result of lack of nutrition at times so keep your intake of vital nutrients adequate.If you are having headaches because you have quit coffee then you can have a cup a coffee to prevent headaches. It is alright to have a cup of coffee a day during pregnancy. Just do not have it every 3-4 hours.

If you are unable to treat pregnancy headaches then you should consult your doctor before your condition worsens.Take the medicines prescribed by him but do not take pain killers in excess as these may not be very good for your baby.
