Today, stress has become an inevitable part of our life style. We are always stressed for some reason or the other and this holds true all the more in case of pregnant women. 

A pregnant woman undergoes a lot of physical and emotional changes during her nine months of pregnancy. She is surrounded with numerous unanswered queries in her mind. All these along with her life style, lead to certain level of stress.

Although, these emotional changes, mood swings and various pregnancy related thoughts are natural and cannot be overruled but they should never overpower and interfere with daily activity. This is because acute and continuous stress can lead to various complications during pregnancy.

Therefore, to avoid any unwanted situations, it is always advisable to minimize the level of stress and anxiety developed during pregnancy. For a healthy and normal pregnancy, it is very important to provide an optimal environment for growth and development of the baby. Stress has a harmful effect on pregnancy.So; pregnant women should try and minimize the stress level.

  • High blood pressure
  • Insomnia and fatigue
  • Loss of appetite
  • Lack of sleep
  • Reduced concentration
  • Body aches
  • Headaches
  • Anxiety

Therefore, for a healthier pregnancy, pregnant women should evaluate the stress symptoms and reduce her level of stress by making necessary changes in her life.  Pregnancy is one of the most wonderful experiences in a women’s life.

Therefore, every women should try and enjoy this period to its maximum. To experience this joyful journey, a pregnant women, should discriminate the stress factor. It is very essential to have a stress free pregnancy. This is because stress has a negative impact on pregnancy.

High level of stress can lead to –

  • Increased risk of premature delivery
  • Low birth weight babies
  • Emotional development of baby
  • Fetus development
  • Miscarriages
  • Depression
  • Addictions like drinking ,smoking
  • Mental and physical ailments etc.

So, during pregnancy, every stressed woman should plan and manage her stress. She should sleep well, perform yoga, breathing exercises, do not over work, take care of your self, share your feelings with your partner etc.
