Many pregnant women are so busy enjoying their pregnancy that they forget the most crucial part of being pregnant; recognizing signs of early labor. For first time moms this might simply mean experiencing pain. However, labor is not only about being in pain.

Many pregnant women suffer from pre term labor. The statistics are alarmingly high. However, you don’t have to worry detecting that you are going into early labor. You might start by experiencing more than five contractions every hour.
You should immediately call your doctor for check up. High number of contractions during early pregnancy is not a good sign, indicative of complications and might pose risk to the unborn baby.
If you notice even slight vaginal bleeding then get in touch with your doctor immediately or report at the ER. Vaginal bleeding means that you might go into an early labor.
In case there is cramping along with the vaginal bleeding then there is a high chance you will end up in preterm labor. in such cases don’t wait for the cramping or bleeding to subside. Immediately get yourself admitted in the hospital.
Severe pain in the back is also an indication of preterm labor. Inform your doctor immediately if you suffer from lower back pain. Don’t wait for the pain to subside on its own and don’t take any pain killers. Chances are that the back pain will be followed by contractions. Don’t wait for contractions to start. Immediately seek medical help for the back ache.
Even a subtle amount of pressure on the pelvis can mean early labor. The pressure need not be extreme and can be caused by early dilation or because the baby is trying to push itself out. Regardless of the reason you should inform the doctor about your condition so that proper measures can be taken to avoid pre term labor.
Upon noticing any of the above signs seek medical consultation immediately. Pre term labor can be detrimental to the unborn baby’s health and sometimes even life. However, under proper medical care a woman can be stopped from going into an early labor thus avoiding the many risks associated with it.
