Symptoms That Require Medical Attention

There are common problems that women go through when they get pregnant. Some suffer from nausea, giddiness, constipation, varicose veins and a lot of other problems. These are all a part and parcel of pregnancy. However you may find yourself suffering from a more complex problem that may need medical attention.

There are some signs that will tell you that you need to go to the doctor or the hospital immediately. Certain problems during pregnancy are not normal and need to be checked. If you suddenly find that you are spotting then do not even wait for an appointment; just rush to the doctor as she will see you immediately. Sometimes spotting can lead to a miscarriage and is more common in the first trimester and so needs careful attention.

Swelling of the hands and feet is very common in pregnancy. But if you find they are excessively swollen and together with the swelling your vision is also affected; there may be a cause for concern so visit the doctor for a check up. Headaches are also common during pregnancy and you are allowed to take medication to ease the pain; but extremely severe headaches need medical attention especially if you are pregnant.

You will begin to feel fetal movements by the time you enter your fifth month and every movement you experience will ensure that the baby is alright. However if you do not feel any fetal movement after the twenty second week there may be a problem and rush to the doctor to get it checked. The doctor will try to hear a heart beat and will be able to tell you if everything is alright.

Signs of danger during pregnancy is also if you get a high fever and it is not getting controlled after medication. This can affect the baby and needs treatment. If you experience severe cramps in the abdomen and you are vomiting continuously; there may be a problem and it could be dangerous for the baby and this sort of pain needs to be looked in to. Lastly if your water bag breaks too early you must go to the hospital immediately as it is the water bag that is protecting your baby.
