Some people and even teachers may find it unnecessary to teach social skills among kids or simply have no time for it. Why send your kids in school if they will not learn how to be sociable and behave properly I front of others or mingle socially in an acceptable way.
Who’ll be blame for such behavior in the first place if time comes that they grow up to be unrefined and uncivilized, when during the times that they were in school their teachers neglected to teach them social skills.
Simple manners and etiquette may not be of much important to some parents, but considering that as time evolves there’s that need to learn how to associate with other human beings.
Children are expected to learn not maybe entirely but at least a thing or two about social conducts and proper behavior and practice it long with the guidance not only of their teachers but their parents as well. There may be some limits to what should be taught in the realm of teaching social skills, but here are several things that ought not to be discounted and be taken for granted.
Saying please and thank you, simple as it may seem but it defines your kind of breeding, looking at the speaker straight into the eye when having a conversation, listen attentively when someone is speaking, minimizing ones voice when working with partner or in a group, being a good sport and accept one’s defeat, acknowledging and appreciating others achievement as well as skills and not making fun of others and tease them as well.
Teaching social skills such as these would eventually gain a child respect as well as confidence in learning to deal and cope with the kind of environment he or she lives in. others may not see it deem necessary or important, at the end of the day it’ll help such a child in facing whatever challenges which life ahead may throw upon him or her.
If teachers will continually set an example on correct social interaction and behavior, students will be given much concrete examples of the exact and right manner to express themselves. As you may know, later in life they’ll be facing lots of people in work or in anything they do, without knowing how to socially behave it will greatly affect them and there being able to interact socially will greatly affect them.
